Whilst the Sydney University Wilderness Medicine Society is still in its early days, we have many ideas for future events, and through this society hope to introduce medical students to the field of wilderness medicine and give them an opportunity to get involved in something very different to what is normally taught as part of the standard medical curriculum.

In April 25 of our members hiked the South Coast track of the Royal National Park, spending the night at the scenic North Era camping ground. Over the course of the year we are planning to hold 5 educational evening events, open to all interested. In late October, our members are planning an expedition medicine week in the Blue Mountains (NSW) run by Dr Edi Albert, an expedition medic.

Whilst our needs are modest, we hope to provide light refreshments for audience members during the lecture series, and reimburse the generous speakers for travel and accommodation expenses.
